Coles merges roles, chief customer officer goes

Coles has appointed Michael Courtney chief customer and digital officer, reflecting increasing focus on omnichannel, bringing in-store and online experiences together. 

Amanda McVay, appointed chief customer officer two years ago, replacing then CMO Lisa Ronson, is leaving. 

Coles Group CEO Leah Weckert, in an email to team members today, expressed “sincere appreciation and gratitude” to McVay.

“Over the past two years, Amanda has been instrumental in developing our Coles customer proposition by advancing our performance marketing with data driven insights, increasing our Flybuys active members to 9.7 million and positioning our Coles 360 retail media business for the future,” Weckert said.

‌“Amanda is looking forward to pursuing new career opportunities in Australia and we wish her all the very best.”

Her replacement, Michael Courtney, is currently chief executive of Liquor.

He is replaced by Claire Lauber, the executive general manager supermarket operations.
