The Guardian has hired advertising strategist Donna Wilson and expanded Charlotte Byrne’s role to include responsibility for Western Australia.

Wilson is an experienced insights-driven advertising strategist who has held senior roles at Spark Foundry and Wavemaker in New York, and led strategy for global brands such as P&G, L’Oréal, and Brown-Forman.

She also has experience in business development, identifying opportunities, building long-term partnerships and leading growth initiatives at Wavemaker and dentsu in Sydney.

“I grew up with the Guardian and its powerful brand equity,” said Wilson.

“I’m genuinely thrilled to be part of the team to help shape its growth and continue to build partnerships grounded in shared values, sharp strategy, and deep audience insights.”

Partnerships sales manager Charlotte Byrne will expand her remit to lead advertising growth in Western Australia, a region she covered during her time at Schwartz Media.

Shannon Hollis, head of advertising at the Guardian, said the appointments reflect our ambition to grow nationally while deepening the strategic value we deliver to partners.

“Donna’s creativity and Charlotte’s commercial strength will not only enhance the Guardian’s advertising offering, but also drive the success of our clients’ campaigns through thoughtful, customised solutions tailored to their unique goals.”
