Michael McEwan, the CEO of M+C Saatchi AUNZ, has moved to lead Droga5's Melbourne team.
His time at M+C Saatchi saw the agency secure major accounts and collect recognition at D&AD, Cannes Lions, The One Show and Effies. He joined M+C Saatchi Melbourne as managing director in late 2019 and was promoted to CEO in 2022.
“There’s enormous opportunity in Melbourne to unleash the creative depth at Droga5 and the world-class capabilities of Accenture Song,” McEwan said.
“Droga5’s reputation for culturally resonant, effective work is second to none. While others talk about the future, Droga5 and Accenture Song are actively shaping it, I’m looking forward to contributing to that momentum.”
Droga5 ANZ CEO Matt Michael said McEwan’s appointment was part of a broader strategy to deepen the agency’s investment in the Melbourne market.
“Michael is a natural collaborator with a strong track record of pushing for great work and building exceptional teams,” he said.

Droga5 returned to the Australian and New Zealand markets in December 2024 through a merger with The Monkeys.
The move formed part of Accenture Song’s global growth strategy. Offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland were rebranded as Droga5, retiring The Monkeys name.
In October 2024, Mark Green, co-founder and former CEO of The Monkeys, was appointed Global CEO of Droga5 and relocated to New York to take up the role, now overseeing the agency’s international operations.
Following Green’s move, Bronwyn van der Merwe was named head of Accenture Song’s Australia and New Zealand business.
Following this, in April 2025, Droga5 began to restructure its global creative leadership, announcing a series of senior appointments across key markets.
In Australia and New Zealand, Barbara Humphries and Damon Stapleton were named co-chief creative officers, taking joint responsibility for creative direction in the region.
In London, Tara Ford was promoted to chief creative officer, stepping up to lead the agency's output in the UK market.
