Tahlia Phillips will oversee editorial strategy across Vinyl Media’s owned and licensed titles.
ASX-listed Vinyl Group has appointed Tahlia Phillips head of publishing at Vinyl Media, following the company’s acquisition of Concrete Playground earlier this year.
Phillips, who joined Vinyl Media as part of the acquisition, previously served as general manager at Concrete Playground.
She brings 15 years' experience across editorial, creative, and commercial roles in major Australian media organisations, including nearly a decade at Concrete Playground.
In her new role, Phillips will oversee editorial strategy across Vinyl Media’s owned and licensed titles, guide the expansion of local editorial teams, and drive original content across music, lifestyle and entertainment verticals.
“It’s a privilege to lead the exceptional editorial and content teams at Vinyl Media,” said Phillips.
“In 2025, Vinyl Media will deliver ambitious audience growth, bold new content franchises, and unforgettable real-world experiences that deepen our connection with audiences in powerful, personal ways.”
Vinyl Group has also appointed Chantelle Schmidt editorial lead for Refinery29.
Schmidt has over 15 years’ experience across publishing, podcasting, digital strategy and branded content, having worked with Elle, Popsugar, Netflix and Mamamia.
She previously led branded and e-commerce content for Refinery29 during its time under Pedestrian Group.
Schmidt’s appointment follows Vinyl Group’s licensing deal to relaunch Refinery29 in Australia and New Zealand. The company now represents local inventory as well as traffic from international editions.
“Tahlia has played a significant part in growing the Concrete Playground brand to where it is today,” said Vinyl Group CEO Josh Simons.
“Her experience and leadership will be key as we grow our publishing footprint. Chantelle returns to Refinery29 with a deep understanding of the publication and its audience.”
Vinyl Media launched in February 2025 as Vinyl Group’s dedicated publishing division. Its portfolio includes The Music Network, Tone Deaf and licensing rights for Rotten Tomatoes, Crunchyroll, Letterboxd, and Bluesfest Byron Bay.
